People Who Transform Everyday Life into Art

Jookhobaram has worked with artisans and villagers to grow, cut, boil, dry, split, and craft the most challenging bamboo strips for fan-making. It is the only workshop that completes traditional fans using handmade bamboo handles, traditional Hanji paper with a history of over a thousand years, and bamboo strips.
The village of Hadae, designated as a ‘Fan Strip Specialization Zone’ in the 1980s, began producing fan strips, providing income for villagers during the farming off-season and establishing a role as a community enterprise. The fan strips made by the villagers are delivered to artisans across the country, where they are transformed into beautiful traditional fans that enrich our daily lives.
